I don't know how this experience could get any better. Today, after our workshop finished we had a "certificate ceremony" which meant we gave official certificates to the participants of the workshop. Frank Crossan, the Principal of the College gave a short speech of thanks to us for coming. Then a participant spoke, saying how valuable the training was for her, her colleagues and patients in Bangladesh. Later she stood up again, and said she learned so much from our teaching methods, she had never been to a workshop before that was so interactive and fun. She learned so much about teaching from us. Of course, we were thrilled to hear her comments, because we wanted to teach content, but we also wanted to model Canadian teaching methods with group learning, cooperative learning, think/pair/share and active discussions. Guess we managed to do that. We then thanked GCCN for welcoming us and making us feel at home in Dhaka. We've learned a lot from the participants as well.
What a great end to some good workshops. Tomorrow we are off to a Hospital for Paralyzed People, training staff in moving patients safely. We don't really know what to expect, but we are flexible, which is important in Bangladesh. I feel so fortunate for the great team that we have from CVCEC here in Bangladesh, not everyone could deal with the experience, it's not easy to see beggars on the street, women and children living on the sidewalk, and many other experiences, they are really great to go with the flow and take what comes. Thanks ladies for coming to Bangladesh!

What an incredible journey you are on... Wow. Thank you for sharing your adventure and for all the amazing pictures! We all miss you back home and hope you are well. ReplyDeleteAn incredible journey is the right terminology, we've seen things we never imagined, seen hardships that are hard to accept, yet we've learned a lot about ourselves too. There are so many people trying to make a difference in the world, it's great. We are so fortunate as Canadians to have options in life, so many people here don't. We are just touching a few lives through our teaching, we are sooooo fortunate to have your support and the support of NFSB to undertake this adventure. An amazing journey for sure......
