Challenges overcome

We've all had an opportunity to teach the Bangladeshi nursing teachers and nurses, and one thing we've noticed with them and their students is "dedication" and the "desire to succeed".  They had a small certificate ceremony yesterday after the first set of workshops finished, it held lots of significance to the recipients.  We felt like royalty, when they all wanted their photos with the Canadian Teachers. They really value learning, and are driven to succeed.  I think sometimes that is missing in some Canadian environments, we take education for granted, perhaps not putting as much work into the learning as we could.  We certainly couldn't say that about our Bangladeshi students.  Of course, life on the street makes it important to get ahead through education here in Bangladesh.  There's lots of poverty all around us, those that have stable work are the ones that get ahead.  It's good to stop and appreciate the opportunities we have in Canada, we are so fortunate!       Debbi

Have fun today everyone and don't forget to enjoy some peanut butter sandwiches.
